Antartica: An extraodinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an isolate outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when a creature is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. I have been waiting to see Born Gold (formerly Gobble Gobble) again since March when the band took me by surprise. When I arrived in Lawrence I expected a different feeling and was shocked when it happened again. Though I knew what to expect when it came to the live talents of Born Gold on Thursday night it was the local opener that would grab my attention.
Motorboater is a band that I was shocked to find out resided in Kansas City, their sound is as far as you can get from the guitar rock we all take pride in. The electronic...

It has been said that you either love Zooey Deschanel or you don’t. I disagree because I am firmly stuck in the middle. I neither love her nor hate her. I can however see how her brand of quirky can wear thin and become gimmicky or worse yet annoying. Luckily for those of us in the middle New Girl is saved from veering too far to the annoying side by her supporting cast played by Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, and Damon Wayans (soon to be replaced by Lamorne Morris playing Winston Bishop).
Zooey Deschanel plays...

I was 13 years old when The Lion King came out and I was well past the intended audience for such a film. Be that as it may, I had disposable income and time. Thus saw it I did, going to the movies was something you did in the midwest regardless of the film. I walked away from The Lion King at that jaded age where I had begun listening to alternative and industrial music and shunned everything about it. It was commercial, it was sappy, and worst of all, it was mainstream; which was the exact opposite of the path I was on...

With Drive leading at the top of my “Best Movies of 2011″ list, it was hard not to come out and scream it’s praise before the review. To hear more about why Drive is one of the best movies of 2011 so far watch the video review below. After watching the review check out our interview with the director of Drive Nicolas Winding Refn and read Sarah’s written review, but most of all go out this weekend and see Drive.
Synopsis: “Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie...

Straw Dogs is another version of the 1971 film starring Dustin Hoffman and Susan George. People are referring to the 2011 version as a remake, but both films are based on the novel The Siege of Trencher’s Farm by Gordon M. Williams. I would not call the current film a remake as much as another adaptation of the novel. I have not seen the 1971 film, and the reviews I have glanced at seem to compare it too much to the 1971 film and say they are too similar. For this reviewer, the material was fresh to me, having never...

13 is about an underground game that bets on the chances of a person coming out alive. The synopsis below pretty much summarizes what is going on in the trailer. I am a little miffed at the beginning as to what era this takes place in based on how Statham is dressed, then I saw the electronic money counter. Why is it called 13? Because there are 13 men in the game. The film stars Jason Statham, Sam Riley, 50 Cent, Mickey Rourke, Michael Shannon, Emmanuelle Chirqui, Ray Winstone, Ray Liotta, and Alexander Skarsgård.
“A...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is on a role right now with some solid films in line to be released in the next year. One of those is Premium Rush. JGL plays a bike messenger in NYC who picks up an envelope for delivery that turns out to be something much more than that. The trailer does not allude to what is in the envelope, but it must be bad news. I faintly remember JGL getting injured while filming Premium Rush. I wonder how much of the stunts he did himself. I think my cyclist friends are going to like this one.
The film...

I have to hand it to the folks that are doing the trailers and publicity for the upcoming Muppets movie. This trailer is the latest spoof trailer for The Muppets. Genuis! The other spoofs have been takes on The Green Lantern and The Hangover Part II, as well as a fake movie trailer. This one is a spoof of the American version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I have included the original Dragon Tattoo trailer for comparison. Everything that has been released so far for The Muppets makes me really excited to see...

Sarah Jessica Parker’s newest film is a dramedy that has her portraying a very normal workaholic, busy mom. I Don’t Know How She Does It is based on a successful novel by Allison Pearson. The story is very relatable to just about every career woman who is also a mom in America, granted this family makes more money than the average American family.
Sarah Jessica Parker plays Kate Reddy, a banker who also is married mother of two. Her husband Richard is played by Greg Kinnear. Richard’s career has taken a backseat...

The first trailer for We Bought A Zoo is now online. I have not read the book the film is based on, but I am interested to see how this movie was done. This film is directed by Cameron Crowe and he also co-wrote the screenplay. The film boasts a great cast headlined by Matt Damon and costars Scarlett Johansson, Thomas Haden Church, Patrick Fugit, Elle Fanning, and John Michael Higgins. The song used in the beginning of the trailer is “Don’t Come Around Here No More” by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers....

It is finally here. After the teaser of the trailer was released last week, the final full version of the second trailer The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is now online. It is a much better trailer than the first one. I would also say that it is better than all the trailers for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. My favorite trailer is from The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and this trailer is not up to par with that one.
More iconic scenes from the book are shown in this trailer. Of course, there are more wedding...
