I fully admit that I love it when the Big Wigs decide to provide the viewers with sneak peak of an upcoming show. Not only does it allow for the critic in me to get a jump start on my review so I don’t have to worry about whether or not I will be able to get all the reviews done in a timely manner. But it also opens up an otherwise occupied hour. Which as we all know is in short supply these days. I also fully admit that I did not like Heroes. In fact, I didn’t even like the pilot, the first season,...

You should know by now that Lost In Reviews is a freak for all things LOST, so it was only fitting that we dedicate a whole week just to the release of LOST The Final Season (season six), available on Blu-ray and DVD Tuesday, August 24. Of course, you could pick it up at midnight at your local media store tonight! I will be telling you all about the Blu-ray edition.
The first thing you will notice about the package is how small it’s gotten compared to your other Blu-rays, season one through five. Well, you have to take...

Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth
Written by Paul Dini
Illustrated by Alex Ross
Published by DC Comics
Okay, let’s just get this said here and now. I’m not really that much of a Wonder Woman fan. She is a great character that has been mishandled for decades at a time and then a good writer/artist team will run with the title and a breath of fresh air blows over the collective stinkage that editors allow this title to become. Although I will say Gail Simone’s recent writing of the comic was one of the best runs they’ve...

The world’s biggest D.I.Y. Punk band, NOFX, is still at it, releasing The Longest EP on August 17th – what could unofficially be considered the follow-up to the recent greatest hits-type release from 2004, The Greatest Songs Ever Written (By Us!). The album consists of an epic compilation of tracks selected from their numerous EPs and B-Sides, rather than from full-length studio releases. For NOFX fans, most, if not all, of the songs are familiar, but there is definitely enough meat on this bone to give it a try and if...

Why do most people have such discontent with music like Dave Matthews or Jack Johnson that never stray from a basic formula of love, having a peaceful good time, togetherness, flip-flops, pineapples, doing good things in this world, and just sitting in a circle of friends on the beach playing guitar and sipping on rum? What is to not like about it? Do positive vibes scratch at these people’s very core? What is it about this music that when these people hear it they say something like, “This music is for liberal fags!...

You’ve already seen Lottery Ticket. No really, you have. Don’t believe me? If you’ve seen a Friday movie, a ‘Madea’ flick, Barbershop, or Beauty Shop, then you know exactly what to expect out of Lottery Ticket. Here you have the same movie with new characters, new antics, and a couple of questionable attempts at humor that are a little offensive.
Lottery Ticket delivers a fairly hum-drum plot. Kevin (Bow Wow) lives with his grandmother in the ‘hood and is a recent high school graduate....

I’m a space nut, not as hardcore as some but I’m quite a fan of NASA and Space exploration. Every time I’m in Orlando I make an effort to make it out to the Kennedy Space center. I’ve seen a shuttle launch which is easily one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Even seeing footage of one gives me goosebumps. I’ve been to the Johnson Space Center the one time I’ve visited Houston. So my interest in the Leonardo DiCaprio narrated Hubble 3D was high from the first trailer I saw for it in front of an Avatar screening...

The trailer debuted today for Fair Game which is the movie based on the true events surrounding Valerie Plame and her life as CIA covert agent being exposed by the US government. Naomi Watts plays Valerie Plame and Sean Penn plays her husband Joseph Wilson. The movie also stars Sam Shepard, Bruce McGill, Ty Burrell, Brooke Smith, and Michael Kelly. Synopsis:
As a covert officer in the CIA’s Counter-Proliferation Division, Valerie Plame leads an investigation into the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq....

Here’s a creepy kid thriller/horror for you. Case 39 is a movie that has been around for awhile and is now getting a release in the US. This could be a good or a bad sign. I tend to go toward the latter. The movie stars Renee Zellweger, Bradley Cooper, Ian McShane, and Jodelle Ferland (seen here much younger than her role as Bree in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse). Synopsis:
In CASE 39, family services social worker Emily Jenkins (Renée Zellweger) thinks she has seen it all… until she meets 10-year old Lilith...

Mr. Nobody is a film that has been around for a while, and has not gotten a US distributor. I have seen this trailer many times, and would really like a chance to actually see it, even if it is only on a DVD. It has an original story and great images. The movie is written and directed by Jaco Van Dormael and stars Jared Leto, Sarah Polley, Diane Kruger, and Rhys Ifans. The premise from a post on IMDB:
Nemo Nobody leads an ordinary existence at his wife’s side, Elise, and their 3 children until the day when reality...

Monsters is going to be prone to comparisons to District 9. It has no well known names starring, a newer director/writer, and looks to be a lower budget movie. Instead of your typical aliens, this movie features life forms from outer space that are more reminiscent of sea monsters (at least the destructive, scary ones). It ran at SXSW earlier this year, and it seems to be finally gaining some strength and appeal after this trailer was released.
Monsters is in a limited release in the US on October 29, 2010.

Josh sat down and had a good long chat with the guys from ALO, Dan and Steve, while passing through Kansas City on tour with Jack Johnson recently. They discuss all matters from where their sound was defined, to the meaning behind the name, ALO and even onto their thoughts with the environment and the Gulf Disaster right now. Check it out and check out their music on their MySpace, linked below.
ALO is not a band that dwells in the past. They are always moving forward. Always striving to discover new ideas. Always looking...

My Soul to Take is written and directed by Wes Craven and is definitely in the same genre and targets the same audience as A Nightmare on Elm Street. Horror/Slasher film is what this movie is and it looks to be a good one for fans of that genre. A lot of teens and a lot of blood seem to be the norm for Wes Craven. This movie stars a bevy of teen newcomers led by Max Thieriot who has some movies under his belt from when he was a kid (Catch That Kid–it all comes back to Kristen Stewart for me).
My Soul to Take is in...
