Cowboys & Aliens is one of those movies that I have been waiting all summer to see, though with a sliver of doubt in my heart. I mean, can a movie titled Cowboys & Aliens really be that good? So far, the reviews are mixed on this one. Let me tell you, sometimes critics take themselves and every movie they see too seriously. Were they expecting a riveting drama and an award winning script? Those who were are the ones who hated this movie. With enough action, thrills and laughs to fill a ten gallon hat, it’s...

I eagerly awaited the screening of Crazy, Stupid, Love. I loved the trailer, and I loved the actors that are featured in it. It is Ryan Gosling’s first foray into comedy, and paired with one of the best comedic actors right now, Steve Carrell, I expected it to be a good movie with plenty of laughs. The movie that I saw was actually more complex than the one I was expecting, and that is a good thing.
The general story of the Crazy, Stupid, Love is Emily (Julianne Moore) wants a divorce from Cal (Steve Carrell) after...

I’ve had enough. For years, I’ve kept my mouth shut as Hollywood insiders, void of any quality original ideas, have dusted off classics of my childhood and recycled them into box office (fool’s) gold. For example, how many parents do you think will drag their tykes to The Smurfs on opening weekend to share a bit of their own childhood with their kid? Sure, the idea of sharing a generational bridging moment with one’s offspring is a nice thought, but is it honestly worth what is being risked?
No. It honestly...

If you stayed after the credits of Captain America, you have already seen this. If you saw an advanced screening of Captain America like me, you did not get to see it. I can’t tell you if there is more to than this than what is shown, but I love what is shown. It starts out with what is shown at the end of Captain America (before the credits) and then goes into a teaser trailer of sorts for The Avengers. Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America, The Hulk, and Nick Fury are all in this movie and their...

I have to say that I was just laughing out loud at the trailer for Tower Heist. This could actually be a good film, and it has Eddie Murphy in it??? The film stars Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Casey Affleck, Alan Alda, Matthew Broderick, Téa Leoni, Michael Peña, and Gabourey Sidibe. The film is directed by Brett Ratner. It has a Oceans Eleven type plot with a Bernie Madoff twist.
“After the workers at a luxury condominium discover the penthouse billionaire has stolen their retirement, they plot the ultimate revenge.”
Tower...

Sarah’s Key is based on a novel of the same name by Tatiana de Rosnay that is a national bestseller. I have not read the novel. It is a rare occasion when I have not read the novel before seeing the film, but Tatiana herself said that the film translation was very close to the book.
The story of Sarah’s Key surrounds events that many may have never heard about or even studied in school. During World War II, the French government under German occupation rounded up French Jews and took them to Vélodrome d’Hiver,...

What did you think a movie based on the game Battleship would be about? Lame, yes. Alien invasion, no. That is clearly what it is about based on the trailer for Battleship that got released a couple of days ago. Is there not a more interesting, original storyline than an alien invasion? The film kind of gives me an Armageddon-type feel to it based on the love interest being the daughter of the captain of the ship. Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker, Rihanna, and Alexander Skarsgård.
“Peter...

The next George Clooney movie is The Ides of March which he stars in and directs. The poster and trailer for the movie were released today. The poster is brilliant and a little mind-bending. The trailer is long, so you get a pretty good idea of what it is all about, which is politics and running campaigns. Other than Mr. Clooney, the film stars Ryan Gosling, Evan Rachel Wood, Paul Giamatti, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Marisa Tomei, Jeffrey Wright, and Max Minghella.
“The Ides of March takes place during the frantic...

For most of us I suspect death is an abstract idea. We know it’s there in the background but we choose not to think about it. It’s an event that will one day happen and there is nothing we can do to stop it. For some the idea of death is something to fear, for others it is something to embrace. When someone close to us has died we mourn their loss and we feel their absence from our lives. A hole opens up in our soul that can never be truly filled again. But death also brings a feeling a nonchalance...

ORLANDO, Fla. (July 19, 2011) — An abandoned scientific research facility in the midst of a vast and frozen Antarctica will set the stage for “The Thing,” an all-new haunted house inspired by Universal Pictures’ upcoming thriller, at Universal Orlando Resort’s Halloween Horror Nights 21. In the thriller “The Thing,” paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet.

There is nothing like a down and dirty soapy drama. You know one that you salivate over every week. The one that you cheer for when the bitch who has had it coming finally gets hers or when the couple you have been rooting for finally hook up. Yeah that one. It’s okay to admit you that you watch them you are among friends here. We do not judge, well Ryan might, but the rest of us won’t. I kid Ryan, I kid.
Well even if you choose to remain in the guilty pleasure closet I implore...

There are two types of people in this world: those that “get” Zooey Deschanel and those that don’t. Not saying anything against Ms. Deschanel, but let’s face it some people don’t like a chick that can be an oddball geek while rocking overalls. Luckily I am not one of those people. This Fall she plays Jessica Day, a girl who gets dumped by her boyfriend in what is quite possibly the most embarrassing way to get dumped and goes off searching for herself….blah, blah, blah. You’ve...

I have an 8 year old who I stopped buying toys for a couple of years ago. Now you may think that would make me a mean mom and I am sure my kid would agree with you after being told to clean their room or do their homework. But you see I have a good reason for not buying my kid toys and that would be because once she got the new, shiny toy she would play with it for perhaps an hour or two (that’s being very generous by the way) before tossing it in her toy box never to play with again. So you can see why after years...
