Avatar: Special Edition is a re-release of Avatar only in 3D and with eight minutes of never before seen footage. I am assuming this footage is not on the DVD or Blu-Ray versions.
Avatar: Special Edition is in theatres for a limited period of time starting August 27, 2010.
Here is a portion of the press release:
“LOS ANGELES (July 15, 2010) _ Twentieth Century Fox and James Cameron today announced that AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION will be released in theaters August 27, in a limited engagement and exclusively in Digital 3D...

The teaser trailer for Skyline is a really well done movie trailer. Although you don’t get to see any acting, the plot is revealed effectively with some really good effects. Way to go, Dan Rather! The synopsis is pretty succint:
In the sci-fi thriller Skyline, strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.
The movie stars Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, David Zayas,...

We also cover a few releases from last week (8/3) such as the 1951 beautifully restored Pandora and the Flying Dutchman, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and the coup de grace, Kick-Ass on Blu-Ray.

Superman: Peace On Earth
Written by Paul Dini
Illustrated by Alex Ross
Published by DC Comics
The time has come to talk of Superman. He was the first super hero as we know the concept. Born in Action comics in 1938 his powers seem modest. “Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.” That ability is quaint like the running board on a Dusenberg now. At the time though he changed everything and as my friend, Stuart says, “Everything that came after is just a reflection of him.” True. I have favorites...

One of the bands that we were looking forward to most at this year’s Warped Tour was the highly acclaimed Gardening, Not Architecture. Angela got to sit down with Sarah, half of the genius that is GNA. If you don’t own their first record entitled The First LP make sure you head over to the official website and put it in your iTunes library, I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Gardening, Not Architecture is an “electronic-tinged ethereal powerpop” collaboration between singer/songwriter Sarah Saturday...

Andre Rand, to most is just another name, but to the people of Staten Island it was the name folklore is made of – a mythical killer that preyed on the weak and wounded. Cropsey explores the man, the myth and the cold hard facts of Rand and the disappearance of 5 mentally challenged children.
The name Cropsey was used as a generic name for this so called urban legend. The film feels like a haze of uncertainty that swallows you up with grainy archival footage, eye witness interviews and a chilling stare from the killer...

Alright let’s do the damn thing! The Vans Warped Tour was one hell of a hot day- some eight-odd hours of music and sun. It would be the day of the greatest test of my novice journalism skills. All I knew was that I was interviewing and reviewing some giant roster of bands. Instead of preparing lots of questions from hours of research and having a whole-balanced breakfast before the show, I simply just stayed up all night, didn’t write a single question, and had some lettuce and coffee for breakfast. I felt this would make...

Josh sat down with Stella Katsoudas from Dirty Little Rabbits for a little one on one time after their set at Warped Tour. Dirty Little Rabbits may be most notably known for Shawn Crahan (Slipknot), but it’s Stella that brings the sound to the masses and gets the attention the band most certainly deserves.
Dirty Little Rabbits’ musical style is considerably different to Crahan’s most notable band Slipknot. Crahan explained in an interview in 2008 that he is an “alternative person in art and music”...

When I see a new Will Ferrell movie coming out from the guy who brought us Step Brothers andTalladega Nights, I’m expecting a laugh-a-minute gut-busting experience. Throw Mark Wahlberg into the mix (be still my beating heart!) and how could this possibly get any better? I keep discovering that those in the “biz” are full of surprises, either to the delight or disappointment of the people who supply their paychecks: the audience. One thing is for sure, The Other Guys is full of surprises, and has an unexpected...

I have to say that Piranha 3D may be a fun movie to go and see. It is one of those campy horror films that I used to see on TV on a Sunday afternoon when I was little. Those movies scared the crap out of me, so I never saw any of them. The cover of the VHS at the local video rental shop was enough for me. Obviously, this is about a pack of pirahnas that terrorize a local lake during spring break. Expect lots of blood, corny lines, and bad acting, only in 3D. The movie stars Elizabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames,...

The men want to be her, the women want to be with her. Tonight the Sprint Center packed to capacity to see an electrifying night with Lady Gaga. But first, the openers, Semi Precious Weapons.
The four piece band originates from New York, same as Gaga. While just seeing guitarist Stevy Pyne, bassist Cole Whittle and drummer Dan Crean one would think this is just another dirty grunge rock band that lucked out of playing the dingy dive bars from whence they came. That is, until you set eyes on Justin Tranter the lead singer of SPW....

Modern Day Escape, comprised of vocalist James Vegas, guitarists Nxe and Marti Rubels, bassist Shep and drummer Corey, have made a name for themselves on a DIY ethic. Shortly after forming, the band began working on their breakout self-titled EP, recorded with Cameron Mizell at Change Studios in Orlando, FL. The EP, released in May of 2008, helped to skyrocket the band into the music scene, reaching as high as 4th on Smartpunk and garnering the attention of fans and labels alike. Closing out 2008 with a bang, vocalist...

So . . . Lost in Reviews crashed. Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark teaser made it online a couple days ago, and you are getting it here a bit late. All I can say is that this trailer will be very effective in a dark movie theatre. Heck, it is effective on the computer screen in my brightly lit bedroom. I want to know what movies this teaser is running in front of because I just want to see the audience’s reaction. Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is a remake of the 1973 TV movie. The screenplay is co-written...

Josh had a chance to talk with Ben and Liam from The Dillinger Escape Plan on how the tour has been, their process with recording and coming together on eHarmony plus much more. With a long history behind them since putting their debut album Calculating Infinity out in 1999, we will just guide you to their web pages to let you learn more about where they came from. http://www.myspace.com/dillingerescapeplan
The Dillinger Escape Plan is an American mathcore band from Morris Plains, New Jersey. The band originated in 1997 after...
