Since the year 2000, FLATFOOT 56 have steadily unleashed a rollicking barrage of Celtic punk and folk-tinged hardcore from the South Side of Chicago to an international audience with intense and positive party-like energy. Coinciding with their 10-year anniversary, Flatfoot launched the release of their 3rd label-backed studio effort, Black Thorn, on March 30, 2010.
Led by spirited front man Tobin Bawinkel (Vocals/Guitar), along with brothers Justin (Drums), and Kyle (Bass), and multi-instrumentalists Eric McMahon (Bagpipes/Guitar)...

Hidden in an electrical closet under the stage at Sandstone for the Vans Warped Tour, Josh started his day by interviewing AM Taxi from Chicago. Fueled only on a vegan diet and a full glass of black coffee, Josh blazed into the day, unbeknownst to AM Taxi for what they had in store for them.
AM Taxi are a blend of old-school punk, world beat and modern pop influences. They combine experience with storytelling in their songs to create something people can relate to. We spoke to Adam (vocals/guitar) and Jason (bass)....

Many of you may know that we at Lost In Reviews are all big, big fans of the epic Andrew W.K. One might think, “Why? He is just a crazy screamer who sings about partying?” Well you would be only initially correct. He does like to scream his praise about partying, but there is a deeper layer to his scream and his love for putting everyone in a great mood. His motive in life seems to be to please everyone around him. He is never one to turn down a hug request from a fan, or cancel a show due to a lightning...

This week on Blu Monday we took a look at Charlie’s Angels, James and the Giant Peach, and The Ghost Writer. Below is a summary of this week’s video review.
Charlie’s Angels: A fun blast from the past loaded with special features. The only problem is all the special features are from previous releases. While the sound and HD picture are great the film gets a Rent It due to a lack of fresh special features.
James and the Giant Peach: This is a beautiful transfer to Blu Ray as you would come to expect from Disney....

Charlie had a great life going for him, he wasn’t rich, but was talented enough to get a scholarship to an ivy league school for his excellent skills in sailing. He shared this talent with his little brother, Sam and together they were inseparable. Charlie had just graduated High School and planned to spend one hour every day with Sam teaching him baseball until he had to go off to college. Tragically, they are in a fatal car accident and Charlie was barely revived, but Sam was lost.
Charlie being so distraught by the accident,...

The Authority: Rule Britannia
Writers: Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning
Artists: Simon Coleby, Brandon Badeaux, Drew Johnson and Mike S. Miller
Published by: DC/Wildstorm
“The world has ended…but the struggle goes on.” There it is right on the label. The Wildstorm people decided to tear up the universe where The Authority resides in a most colorful and blood-splashy kind of way. Well I’m always up for some of that.
The Authority is one of the best super team books out there and has been for years ever since...

This happens to be my second vampire movie trailer of the day. The first trailer for Priest came online today. Considering Paul Bettany was just in Legion, this movie seemed somewhat on the same scope, although different subjects (angels vs. man, now man vs. vampire). A synopsis on Yahoo! Movies reads
“A legendary Warrior Priest from the last Vampire War now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church. When his niece is abducted by a murderous...

Below are the first full trailer and the red band trailer for Let Me In. The teaser was pretty good and these two trailers are about the same but no music, a longer runtime, and some more scenes. The red band trailer has couple of non-PG visuals and an added scene at the end of the trailer. These come courtesy of San Diego Comic Con as with all of the trailers I am posting today.
There are also two new posters that are both really good (see below).
Let Me In is the American remake of the Swedish film Let the Right One...

The teaser trailer for Sucker Punch just came online, and though I was skeptical of the movie from the plot and posters, I have to say this looks like a mind-blowing CGI, green screen extravaganza. I was not loving the music at first, but it does seem to fit. Right now, it is only up on Apple’s iTunes Movie Trailer site. Once we get a trailer we can embed, I will post it here. This is the same footage that was shown at Comic-Con. UPDATE: HD Youtube version is up!
Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen, The Legend of the...

Liars are one of those bands that I think most have heard before, but never seen live and probably don’t know much about. It was the same for me even after seeing them for the third time, this time at The Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS; they still maintained that air of mystery. Even going so far as to have the drummer, Julian Gross, sit down next to me to watch the opening act, John Wiese, and deny he was part of the band and then proceeded to ask me for two hair bands for his hair, which he later put into braids.
The set...

This week on Blu Monday, we cover an action-packed couple of weeks of July 20th and July 27th with Clash of the Titans, Cop Out The Rock out with your Glock out Edition and The Losers.
Video Review Summary:
Clash of the Titans: RENT IT. Where Clash is lacking in story, it makes up for in visuals and sound. With special features like Maximum Movie Mode, it takes our previous low rating from the theatre and bumps this up to a rental.
Cop Out The Rock out with your Glock out Edition: BUY IT. With an awesome name like this, it’s...

The second trailer for Red is another Comic Con release. I have to say that I like this trailer more than the first one. John Malkovich is going to be the best part of the movie. His shoot-out with the neighbor lady from Big Love is great. The trailer explains more of the plot than the first trailer did. Red stars Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Karl Urban, Richard Dreyfuss, Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, and Brian Cox.
Red is in theatres October 15, 2010.

Earlier this week, the musical snuff film that is The Runaways graced retail outlet shelves. I had a chance to catch The Runaways at SXSW, but since Angela wrote the review, I never got to express my feelings about the movie. Away from the mystique that comes with the red carpets and flash bulbs I wondered if The Runaways could hold it’s steam, and I’m happy to say it did. Being a musician, I’ve always been enthralled by films about drugged-out, glorious rock stars and for the most part that’s what I thought...

Let me just start by saying that I was not particularly looking forward to witnessing all that is Salt. It was probably because of one of these two reasons: One, the role was originally written for the almighty Tom Cruise as Edwin Salt. He turned it down claiming it was too close to the Mission Impossible franchise, either that, or he had a crazy meeting to attend to about Mel Gibson. Two, Angelina has become bigger than life and is no longer a character in my eyes. She is Angelina Jolie frolicking around a film set for an hour...
